Ndogo questions

Hey all,

I have a few questions about the Ndogo;

Is the Ndogo able to get a GPS location by itself or do I need a GPS module like https://www.sparkfun.com/products/13740
the one above (GP-20u7) to get the current GPS location?

What library do I need to send data (HTTP) with the cellular network? (any examples perhaps?)

Do I need to buy an UFL antenna or does the Ndogo already has one?
If not, anyone has a link where I can buy one?

Thanks in advance,
Jesse

  1. You will need to a separate GPS device. There are a range available, just make sure whichever one you select is 3.3V compatible.

  2. The GPRSbee library (available in the Arduino library manager) will work with the Ndogo.
    There is an example using the Mbili here: http://support.sodaq.com/adding-a-gprs-connection-to-upload-data/ For the Ndogo the initialisation is a bit different.

gprsbee.initNdogoSIM800(Serial1, SIM800PWRKEY, SIM800VBAT, SIM800STATUS);

I’ll get back to you on item 3.

There are some Ndogo specific examples here:

Thanks for the answers which is really helpful.

I’ll wait for your answer about the antenna and then I know exactly what
to buy.

As for question 3, yes it comes with a U.FL antenna.

Just opened the package, it didnt have an UFL antenna with it?

Is this required to use the GSM stuff from the SIM800H?

You might be able to connect to the network without an antenna, but I wouldn’t count on it being reliable.

I’ll ask someone to sort this out for you.

thx great, am waiting on it!
