Battery not charging with solar panel

Hi all,

I bought a MBILI with 2200 mAh battery and a 2 Watt solar panel. I equipped the MBILI with an XBee S2C. As far as I can see, I have a MBILI consuming 10 mA and an Xbee consuming 33 mA. My solar panel should give me around 500 mA. So I do not understand why it is not charging. Or is there something wrong with my board or something else perhaps?

Thank in advance for any insight into this.

It’s the same for me. Mbili 6b + xbee 868 LP
Not charging.

So strange, what is causing this?
Now i switched the Mbili off and removed the XBee. Now it is charging very very slowly. Is this normal? To my calculations, it should be fully charged within 5 - 6 hours, however, it does not… Is something wrong with my Mbili board?

With the USB cable, it is charging very fast.

Hi,

It looks like your solar panel is not producing as much power as you expected.
You can test the solar panel without the mbili to see if it matches your expectations.

You can look into the low power / sleep modes of the mbili to consume less and charge more.
Here is some example code: https://github.com/GabrielNotman/Mbili_Examples/tree/master/Tutorials/A%20Simple%20Datalogger

To charge the battery, both solar and usb power input go through the same charge chip.

Kind regards,
Jan
